After a very long drive home today (arrgghh holiday traffic!) I decided to relax with a small pile of fabric.
To my disappointment I haven't done any sewing for Christmas this year. The best of intentions and all that but I ran out of time early on :-(
But ED mentioned the other day that the Ouchie bags I made for the freezer a few months ago would make great little tossing bags for the kiddies.
So as I was driving I was working out how I could get them sewn in time for Christmas Day.
They're very quick and easy...there's a tutorial *here* on Lori Holt's Bee In my Bonnet blog.
So for the first sewing for a few days, here is my fabric pull -

I just need to cut some 5" squares, and I think I'll do the front and back different fabrics for a bit more interest. Then they just need sewing up and filling with some some rice or wheat. I'm toying with the idea of making inners and the novelty fabric could be removeable for cleaning..... or maybe there's enough fabric in my stash that they can just get replaced rather than washed if they get too yucky!!
Now all I need to do is hope that I can fit in some sewing tomorrow, as well as the 101 other things I want to do!!!
'til next time,
happy stitches
Some drive!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home safe
Looks like fun fabric.
ReplyDeleteNice fabrics - happy stitching. xx
ReplyDeleteI made up "ouche" bags several years ago. I used red fabric for the ones to be microwaved for heat and blue fabric for the ones kept in the freezer and ready to go for bumps, sprains and all else.
ReplyDeleteI love "ouche" bags. When I was recovering from breaking my ankle, I hurt my back at physical therapy and these were life-savers. I love that they can be used for hot and cold. Your fabrics look so fun. Good luck with your sewing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a neat quick fun gift--
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours--
luv, di

Great idea, I am sure you will fit them in somehow! 😁
ReplyDeleteLovely idea and perfect for little hands.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great plan. I hope you find the time.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones Raewyn xx
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect idea for a quick make. I know what you mean though about trying to eke out a little time in with the 101 other things to do. Our Christmas will be very quiet as my girls are together out in Alberta. Maybe I’ll get to sew but not sure as we are dog sitting and that means three dogs, two of them very young, to look after!
ReplyDeleteSo many ideas for this as they get older... adding applique letters to match a picture on the back for an alphabet game... which then can be used for putting together simple words. Having colours... memory games... you could be making these for a while
