I'm down to three calves to feed in the mornings now; it takes all of five minutes or so. I haven't had three calves to feed since July 12th!!
EDIT: I've popped back to add a couple of extra photos. Here are the three calves feeding this morning. Blindy-boy is on the left. You may remember that he was dropped off here by the neighbour after his mother abandoned him. He is a pure-bred Angus, while all of ours are from a purebred bull over dairy cows, so a 50:50 cross.
If you look at his back legs you can see the purebred effect showing through - the double muscling is really starting to happen compared to the crossbred ones. He's got quite a different back end. And his shoulders are starting to change too.
After a day at work (at the quilt shop) today I raced home to get ready for a dinner outing, celebrating the eldest grand-daughter's 17th birthday (which is next week).
We were seated outside which was perfect. While we waited for our meal, the older kids could ride the e-scooters and the younger one could gaze in wonder at the Christmas tree (and growl at the seagulls that got too close to the tables).
A lovely meal and a pleasant evening.
'til next time,
happy stitches,
Raewyn.
it looks like a fun break from taking care of calves.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous you work at a quilt shop…share my kiwi pattern. Cheers, Louise

Just three calves must be a breeze. It’s good to see the blind one thriving. Dinner looks like it was fun for all of you.
ReplyDeleteWell done, just three calves left, you must be relieved! Interesting to read about the different types. Great meal out!
ReplyDeleteWow only three....... Is amazing how the different things come thru with a cross...... Nice time with family......
