It's all over!!
Retreat has been and gone, and oh we had a great time! It was a good old road trip. We did a bit of exploring —
| ||
Grass Trees |
And did some sightseeing — We may have even sung a bit :-)
Mrs google maps lady sent us off on a very scenic route for the last leg of the journey
The sign didn't say "Beware this is the dirt road route!!" |
But it was a lovely drive - very interesting for this farming girl! |
So disheartening to see acres and acres of drought |
We sewed —
Photo of our first 'fivesies' borrowed from Chooky's blog |
We celebrated —
Bling night |
Sue and a sunset |
I saw a Galah — |
— or three |
Retreat was fabulous. (More about what I sewed in my next blogpost).
After it, and on the way back to Melbourne, Sue and I spent a night at Chooky's.
We three by the Chookshed |
An oasis in the middle of the drought |
Feeeding time on the farm |
More driving and a goodbye at the airport —
Flying off 'into' the sunset |
After a little more driving 'before I knew it' I was home again and the adventure was over.
Happy to be home, happy to have done it - and itching to go back next year!!
'til next time,
Happy stitches
What a wonderful post, so much fun.
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great time didn't we, great post Raewyn, roll on next year!!
ReplyDeleteOh, retreats are so refreshing! I was just laughing at the thought that they can be exhausting at the same time. Looks like yours really was a grand adventure--geocaching, dirt roads, interesting trees, beautiful birds--and singing! And it looks like you squeezed in a bit of sewing, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun to get to meet up with other bloggers, too.
Okay, I need you to explain "fivesies."
Sounds like you had a wonderful time! Looking forward to seeing what you made.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic time ...Fun getting to and from retreat . Great to get together with friends at retreat and then to have a night at Chooky's too....
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had great time, a proper adventure.
ReplyDeleteBlogging away is fine...but actually meeting adds an extra understanding...meeting "in the round at last" as Peter the Potter in Waikouaiti said.
Loved your post and definitely looks like a great adventure xx
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to meet you both at Scrub Stitchin. The weekend is the very best way to recharge the batteries. I do hope you can make it again next year.
ReplyDeleteFabulous pictures, looks like an awesome time.
ReplyDeletesounds like a great time - taking time to see things away from cities also can be such fun but I have found a lot of people do not like to be away from the noise of the city - how weird is that!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I have been following the horrible drought that Chooky has endured and I am so happy that you all had a chance to get together to stitch!
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit of a whirlwind for you - but wonderful that you could come...Google maps (and GPS systems) do funny things at times. Glad you got back safe & sound.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, you certainly had plenty of sight seeing adventures, plus all your sew ing time.
ReplyDeletehello hello, so glad you had such a great time ….. life should be full of great adventures
ReplyDeleteHugz

ReplyDeleteSo pleased you enjoyed it
It looks and sounds like a great time.
ReplyDeleteThat is a big adventure. Lots of distance travelled but obviously a great time all round.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fun time was had all round...
ReplyDeleteLots of happy faces!! My, that's a big koala :) xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a real adventure. Look forward to seeing what you worked on soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time you had. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely retreat!!! You had a grand adventure getting there and home again. I love seeing pictures of Australia...doesn't look too much like the area in Perth that I was lucky enough to visit. I need to come back and tour the whole country!! I would love to be able to drive around the entire continent!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you made while on retreat!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great retreat. I used to go to a retreat in Queensland, but now it clashes with the one I run in NZ so don't get to go over for that now. Don't you meet wonderful people, and usually make lifelong friends. Very exciting for you and a great change from life on the farm!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing and fabulous how we quilt bloggers of QBL meet up IRL all over the globe? More support for my belief that politicians need to become quilters. Or maybe quilters need to run the countries... Lovely photos, wow on the galahs!!! Gorgeous! Makes me think of a beautiful bird we saw in Mexico, whose name escapes me (in my notes somewhere). I love the idea of bling night and will be watching to see what you sewed! I never get as much done as I plan to... Wish I could send you some of our rain; I'm so over it, need some heat!
