Nearly there —

I got this far with the Buggy Barn trucks and tractors today —
All the tyres are appliqued and I'm ready to join them together.
Because each type of block is a slightly different size there is the odd gap in a couple of the rows. I decided the simplest thing to do was to add strips of matching fabrics in. I really only had strips left over but they'll work —
I considered missing today's walk so I could spend an extra hour getting these blocks together but the walk won out in the end.
Down to the bridge to say hello to the horses —
Catching up with the MOML who was feeding out for tomorrow morning —
It's not ALL hills around here!
If you catch the centre tree at the right angle, it looks like it's dancing...
Can you see it?
Yes, I know, easily amused....
Past the cows —
I've been watching this bunch of bananas, ready to run out and pick them the minute the birds start pecking them. I've been amazed there's been yellow fruit but no birds —
But I didn't realise there was another bunch that was even more ready. A gathering of Silver-eyes gave the game away —
They do a lot of damage!
Midnight tonight marks 4 weeks of strict level 4 lockdown. We're to stay this way till next Monday when we enter level 3. Level 3 is nearly as strict but gives the opportunity for more businesses to go back to work. I'm not sure how it will work as customers are still not allowed to go into shops. I guess there will be a lot of the Click and Collect type shopping or online sales. The MOML is looking forward to getting a new chainsaw chain!
Our bubbles are mostly supposed to stay the same as they are now so socially it won't be much different to how it is at the moment.
'til next time,
healthy and happy stitches,

  1. how do you reach the bananas in the trees to pick? silly question but just curious. LOL. I hope your level 3 is successful. I will be glad when things life a little bit here, we have been mainly home for about 5 weeks now - one trip to the grocery store instead of ordering that time. Early on we would go to the parks to walk but after they closed the bathrooms that was out - hubby is on a diuretic for his heart condition so we stopped doing that as he needs the facilities when out walking and it was too public of an area to take care of that in the wilds of nature :)
The truck quilt with the strips on the sides of blocks to even is a perfect idea.

  3. PS. Could you not put some sort of netting over the bananas so the birds can't get to them ??

  7. Banana trees on your farm, I would never have thought they would grow here. Can you give us a little more background on the bananas please? How old are they, who planted them, are they easy to grow? Certainly no banana trees in our neck of the woods.

  12. Howdy Raewyn. Again, another great post. Lot's of great pictures and the horses are beautiful indeed. Listen girlfriend! Don't cut yourself short! Many people wouldn't notice these lovely dancing trees. Only the people with a wonderful imagination as well as lots of curiosity and a love for life would see things like this. There is just so much around us to see, and all we have to do it stop for a moment and look. I love finding things like this, and thank you so much for sharing with us. Your quilt is coming right along. You go a lot done today. You have a blessed evening. <><

  14. Raewyn - I would have gone on the walk too - so important to get fresh air and stretch the legs. After four weeks of lockdown, our Governor has published guidelines for a phased re-opening starting next week. It will be very interesting to see how this develops and how many businesses are able to open following the guidelines. We are anxious to get out and equally importantly, support those local businesses, as long as it can be done safely. Time will tell.

  19. Lovely progress on your quilt again and it is looking wonderful.
You definitely have to be quick to beat the birds when it comes to a good feed.
Good luck changing to Stage 3. The biggest thing we have noticed is that the mail system has been overloaded as everyone tries to buy on line. Hope your PO has geared up for that.
