So....here it is...
Now I can distinctly remember starting this; the year was 1981!! I was still at school and it was a stress relief project while studying for exams.. I did physics and chemistry etc so probably quite a lot of stress relief was needed!!!
My first ever patchwork project - Paper piecing!!
OOPS!!! I think 29 years is too long to leave a needle in your project!
Nice tiny stitches....
Still a pile of unpieced ones to finish. Look how tiny the smallest diamond is!
In true patchwork fashion, this project was started using leftover scraps - this is the sundress I had made myself from the red and white fabric. If I remember rightly it was mostly the lighter fabric with red trim....including a red frill around the bottom! I loved it!!! (And I remember I must have driven my dear patient mother to distraction as it used to take me HOURS to choose fabric for a new dress!!)
Oh what memories!! Have a great day!!!
hey you are full of secrets, paper piecing! I think if you are going to pick this one up you need a new needle!I must drag out the first quilt I ever made ,it is only the top, but it is made out of my old clothes...will do that.
ReplyDelete29 years is probably a bit too long for that needle!! ...now i'm wondering if i've left needles in any old projects... anyway i'm glad i inspired you to dig the project out!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing that you pulled out that beautiful project that you started so long ago. I am going to be watching your progress on this one for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming over and joining as a follower on our Stash Manicure blog. That helped me find your lovely blog! You are now entered into our month end drawing. Good Luck!
I think you should embroider the date 1981 over you "needle storage" area!!! I have done that before .....pins aren't any better, some are even worse. When you complete the project add that date to the last piece you stitch in. A special note just for you!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny!! I suppose a new needle is in order?? lol!! Love your teeny tiny stitches - weren't you a clever duckie?! And the story of the sundress - ahhhh memories!
ReplyDeleteThe rusty pin made me chuckle ..... I have a UFO with the same problem, except there are 12 blocks with 12 rusty pin spots .... so am glad to see that I'm not alone with this problem. That EPP project is lovely and deserves to be finished.
ReplyDeleteI don't feel so bad about my ufo form 2001 now!!! I have a cross stitch from when I was a teenager that has rusty a needle in though. The fabric brings back memories, it looks like Laura Ashley fabric. I had several dresses made from her little prints, I think I even had the same sun dress.
