A bit of a puzzle

Some odd looking body parts have started appearing in The Palace —
An ear perhaps?
Maybe a nose?
Definitely an eye (albeit incomplete)
Yes, you guessed it; I'm pattern testing for Juliet of Tartankiwi again!
An interesting assortment of body bits.
This is going to be an awesome cat...and quite a big one too. We're allowed to share our progress of this as Juliet has been talking about this latest design on Instagram. She has high hopes of doing a sewalong next year. I'm loving it a lot. You can see more *here*.

In the top of the previous photo I realised you can just see some fruit I harvested today —
I realised yesterday this wee bunch was starting to ripen. And decided to cut it before the birds find it.
A tangle of grapevines and banana palms.

We had two little cuties come around today; look how big they're getting, sitting at the table to eat —
I used the little white chair and my sister had the cane chair when we
were kiddos - they don't build them like this anymore!
'til next time,
happy stitches,

  1. Wow that is going to be a large piece. Oh the bananas are so cute as well as the kiddos. There is a tiny chair that my great grandfather made his adopted daughter in the 1900 that we still own. The kids rocking chair that was mine when I was little is still around too.

  2. wow Bananas! I didn't think you lived in an area of New Zealand that grew bananas! Do you live in the northern part of the country

  4. Julie's patterns are amazing, and you always do such a good job with them.
Very cool to grow your own bananas!
That is such a sweet shot of the girls on your chairs from your youth.

  7. I am envious of your banana tree. How fun it would be to just walk outside and pick some. I'm sure they taste much better than the ones we buy at the store. Your paper piecing looks great. Will be anxious to see the "cat" when it is completed.

  9. Love the colours of the fabrics in your pattern testing - a huge eye - Im looking forward to seeing your finish!
Lucky you having your own bananas growing in the garden, probably it would be too humid down here for them., I always think the flower is a beauty.

  10. Your paper piecing looks interesting, must pop over to Instagram and have a nosey. Love the colours you have chosen. Those bananas look wonderful, well done on getting them before the birds. My goodness the little are growing fast, lovely to use the furniture you used as a child .
