.... oops, I mean 101!!
Some of you hexie-flowers makers and compulsive sewers will appreciate the following story.
We had friends staying recently. I was showing my friend my Grandmothers Garden quilt (well what I have of it) and the other little bits and pieces of hexie-ness I have around the house. She was quite amazed that I was mad enough to hand-sew all those pieces together.
Hexie paraphenalia and a sneak peak of my grandmother's garden quilt (well, what there is of it so far!) |
Then we started preparing a snack - chips and dip (and wine) ...... she watched me opening a box of crackers and then suddenly threw her arms up in horror - "even the food you eat is hexagons!" she exclaimed.
I had to calm her down and reassure her the crackers were actually pentagons and no I wasn't THAT hexie-mad after all!!
Have a great day everyone!
How funny! I took a little table topper that I made of hexies and showed it at Guild. THe women who make the most amazing works of beauty, were just amazed that anyone could do such a thing. BUt they're so easy. Congrats on reaching 101!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the giggle re your crackers :)

ReplyDeleteWow 101 hexies -- dare I say I'm jealous?? I have to say that I KNOW if you could find hexigon shaped crackers -- you'd have them:)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Nice story! 101 hexies, congratulations, Raewyn! The new ones look very lovely on that wheel, I thought you made a fan of them, when I saw the little picture of it!
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting, Cisca
Well done Raewyn on reaching your milestone. Anyone not yet ininitiated into hexagons does not know what they are missing. Such a simple shape to stitch, therapeutic, portable - can stitch them anywhere and highly addictive. I dare anyone who hasn't made one to have a go and see what happens. I'm with you all the way. It will be a prized quilt.
ReplyDelete101 hexie flowers, well done. Love the way you displayed them for the photo.
ReplyDeleteThats pretty funny :) Love your hexies.....hope the penties and wine were delicious.
ReplyDeleteLustig :o)
ReplyDeleteJa, wenn man so einige Hexagons genäht hat, fallen sie einem auch im Umfeld immer öfter auf.....

ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers this week! Your story is too funny! I think those who do not sew just don't get it no matter how much we try to explain. lol
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on passing the 100 hexagon flower mark. And, I love them displayed on the wheel. You will have enough for a quilt before you know it...and it will be beautiful.

Ha Ha, love your flowers and they look great on the wheel.

ReplyDeleteGr Hennie.
English Paper Piecing is truely addictive. I can hardly wait to finish my hexies so I can be back to my spools and then I do want to try my hand at a couple of other patterns I have been seeing. Your BOM embroidery is so very pretty - can't wait to see all the blocks together.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute post! Loved how you displayed the hexies. Little wine and fun crackers---YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn :)
Congrats, I love the way you displayed your hexies on this occasion! That is too funny about the crackers. Sounds a little like my geometry classroom...is it a hexagon or a pentagon...maybe an octagon? Anyway, I would love to find those crackers and take them to school. My students already think I'm a crazy nerd!
ReplyDeleteThank you .... I enjoyed the chuckle!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so well with your hexies.
That is toooo funny! Congratulations on #101! :-)
ReplyDelete101! that's great, I look forward to the day I will get there. Hexie crackers, I will be looking for them now!
