Friday night Sew In in November

Friday Night Sew In was a week late this month, but that suited me. I was determined to make some time for myself as I had a busy weekend ahead of me.
I finished up another block of the Life Is Beautiful quilt; the project I work on when I have nothing prepped to stitch in the evenings. I didn't have too much left to do and it was satisfying to have it completed  —
Below is the next block I'll stitch for this project. The applique was done a while ago, so once again it won't take me long to compete. But I'll tuck it away until I have a few spare nights between other projects.

This is what I am usually stitching in the evenings at the moment - The Santa, The Tree, The Turkey and Me, by Anni Downs. I completed this one (block two) during the week.
I've done a little of block three but need to do some more prepping before I can continue.
(That's the start of a very long dog!)

The rest of the weekend was taken up by children children children. We had the two year old twins for their first ever overnight stay. Plus the next door three for a few hours. Oh and the 14 year old and two friends camped one paddock over from the house. It took a bit of juggling but it went pretty well. I got more sleep than I imagined I might but less than I needed! All children were returned to their parents unscathed by the experience ♥
(If you look carefully you should be able to see some of the bubbles that kept them
entertained for ages!)

Thank you Wendy for hosting Friday Night Sew In. You can visit her blog and see the line up *here*.

'til next time,
Happy stitches,

  1. It’s good to have a project you can just pick up when you have a spare moment. I love Anni’s quilt and saw the original in her shop. Too much hand stitching for me, so I’ll just enjoy seeing others. I’m glad the kicker time went well.

  6. Your stitching looks beautiful. It’s nice to have a project just waiting for the right time. It sounds like you have been a busy granny! I’m sure the parents enjoy it as much as the children.

  7. Lovely projects to be working on Raewyn. I have seen a few people working on the Anni Downs project. Wonderful, tiring but wonderful to have the grand children staying.

  8. Lovely projects, with some pretty stitchery underway! Glad you survived the sleepover! We have our two oldest ones (10yrs & 6yrs) over in the school holidays, and they have their sweet little habits each time they come!

  9. That sure has been a busy time with all the children. But what a lot of fun, too.
Lovely to see your stitching blocks. I have to be patient with that design from Anni Downs. I must finish Dancing Chickens first. But I am so tempted when I see your block!

  11. To show you how my brain is working right now, my first glance at the first block triggered the thought, "with a little bit of extra stitching you could make that look like the Corona virus!" Oh, my goodness, have to get that off my brain!!
The Anni Downs block is so whimsical and fun.
You had major grandma duty! Glad the children were unscathed and you were only sleep deprived. :)

  13. Oh, I like that! I'm not allowing myself to find out more. I didn't do the other one this year, so that's moved to 2021!
