Scrappy Sue

Sunbonnet Sue has taken on a new look to make a star appearance in my scrappy quilt.
Sewing the 2 inch squares together was last year's Leader and Ender project; lately I have been sewing the skirts for Scrappy Sue as my Leader and Enders so here finally is the first complete Sue.

Nice big pieces so the needleturning goes quite quickly - she is about 8 inches tall. Last night I added the stem and leaf - she needs a Yo-Yo flower but the button I have pinned on looks quite cute.
(Sorry the lighting in the photos is not right - first it was 'dusk' light, then early morning glare from a lightbulb!)

And while I am talking scraps :-) I didn't realise how effective flying geese made out of leftover Half Square Triangles were...
...very cute.. I feel another addiction coming on!!

Hope everyone's projects are going well,
thanks for visiting, have a great day!!

I am not a big fan of Sunboneet Sue but your Scrappy Sue is beautiful! I love the colors you are using. And using leftover HST to make flying geese is a great scrap buster :)

So cute Raewyn!
I didn't make it to the Stitch and Chat yesterday and next Thursday I have a (homeschoolers) sewing class but I'll try for the next.

The Sunbonnet Sue is adorable, and I like the button, too. I like the scrappy flying geese made like that, too. I am trying to do something with my scraps, and I will sure keep those HST geese in mind.

Too cute for words! You look like you have a nice variety of 2" squares. And don't worry I think Sue will grow bigger than *" tall!
You know what they say: "when life gives you scraps...make a quilt" so use them up!
I like the touch of lace.

Oh, that's just adorable! The dress reminds me of part of a dresden plate. And I have tons of scraps that could be made into flying geese...totally going to try that!

I am in the process of making a leaders enders project and the borders are made of half square flying geese like yours! I *heart* them.

The girls are so cute. Love the fabrics for each skirt. Your applique is done very nicely.

You Sue is so pretty - I just love the pieced skirt. Did you applique each piece, or sew it together and then appliqued the total?

Well how about that. I hadn't thought to use my half square triangle blocks for geese. Duh. Thanks! :-)

Sun Bonnet Sue has never really done it for me Raewyn, but your scrappy version with turned applique and lace actually doesn't look too bad! Don't think I'll ever be converted, however your version does look quite acceptable :) I looove flying geese!!!
